Technology

I am sick of this world
Technology has gone wild
I miss the peace of mind
I used to have as a child
Everyone seems so busy
Having somewhere to go
Information running rampant
But what do we really know?
The violence is never ending
Greed is the name of the game
Technology keeps on evolving
Human nature remains the same
Genghis Khan with atom bombs
Terrorism is more than a crime
Nuclear weapons will be used
It is all just a matter of time

The Game

While I have been here for awhile
Through it all, I still can smile
Thinking about where I have been
No difference between now and then
History in endless books of pages
Is only a moment in all the ages
As drops of rain go pitter patter
Every fallen sparrow does matter
All are one and one is all
As we hear the animals call
Different entities all the same
Living life is one big game

Technology standardizes all things. It is anti-human in nature. Which makes me think that humans are not the ones in control. But technology is. For everything I believe has sentience. People can only choose which path to take, they cannot make the path themselves. If they create evil things, like bombs, it is not the humans in control, but those evil things. If they create good things, like a poem, or even a poetry website, there is no question of control but only of bearing positive returns. In other words, kindness is liberation and evil is servitude. Just some thoughts on your poem.

I’m running the cycle in this digital frame
Most people forget the camera lens is the same
There’s nothing to be attached to in technology’s range
    Just nuts screws and bolts
A human being’s NOT the same.

One can refine oneself. In the spirit and flesh.
Only the lived out experience survives the rest.
Playing with gadgets blows out in the wind.
Only breathing the air counts as a thing.

David, I’m a terrible Luddite when it comes to technology, so I sympathize with your poem! I thought it was well-written and good for your purposes. I do wonder if the meter would be better with “It’s” in the last line.
