Daily we vent and cement our position In righteous and virtuous words. Unity fails if each crucial decision Is left to the whim of the herds. Deplorable plebs are so flawed and naïve When treading the foolhardy path That maddens our minds. Where’s the creed we believe? We think on the nation’s behalf. The fact that the numbskulls, the brainwashed and dumb (they’ve earned every helpful insult) Have gathered together in dim unison As part of a Donald Trump cult, Begs a rewire to put out the fire That burns beneath crass MAGA hats— A program’s in place to snuff out the disgrace Of Orange-Man-worshipping rats! We aim to assist. We will use every trick We have in our reverent store, To thwart the ill-will of the hypnotized clique With “values” our morals abhor. We’re tolerant souls who uphold human rights— In rights to a vote, we exult. We’re pious and peaceful and shun vicious fights… Unless you are part of Trump’s cult! . . It’s like anaphylactic shock from cognitive dissonance. Reply Joseph S. Salemi January 26, 2021 Simple: It’s because liberalism is a RELIGION, not a system of rational thought based on evidence. It is a faith and a commitment backed up by intense emotional fervor — fervor so intense that it literally blocks out anything at all that casts doubt on its “truth.” Partisans of liberalism are “true believers,” just like Jehovah’s Witnesses or Amway dealers. I’ve personally seen colleagues at work burst into rage, or floods of tears, if you so much as question a single article of their liberal faith. Liberalism has its fixed dogmatics, its saints and sinners, its scriptural texts, its hierarchy, its official Weltanschaaung, and its inquisition. It is a world-encircling cult. What’s terrifying right now is that this religion is starting to be imposed by fiat on everyone, in both the public square and the private sphere. If you openly question the Liberal Religion, you are going to be in for some rather nasty surprises. If you are reckless enough to make fun of it and call it out as a fraud (as many of us here at the SCP do), you will be marked down for persecution and ostracism. For example, I can and have presented Muslims with evidence that counter their arguments about the Quran or Mohammed (e.g.). It is the exception to the rule that they freak out and melt down. To a high percentage they just take on the argument (with, shall we say, varying degrees of success). Liberals, on the other hand are the reverse: as a rule they melt down. Joseph S. Salemi January 27, 2021 Mr. Kemper, I understand your point. Even in the devoutly religious Middle Ages it was possible for Christians, Moslems, and Jews to read each other’s viewpoints and argue amicably about their opinions. But that was because each of those groups had a fixed and unshakable certainty as to the truth of their beliefs, and because they knew that regardless of the errors of others, God was on their side as a guarantor of that truth. Everybody was “grounded,” as some literary critics like to say. What you have noticed in left-liberalism is a psychologically based fanaticism, rooted in resentment, rage, and defensiveness. Since left-liberalism is based on nothing rooted in objective reality, but only on what Sartre might have called a “free existential choice,” any disagreement or skepticism drives them wild. It is a rebuke to their entire mental structure if somebody says “No, I don’t accept your views. I’ve freely made a different choice.” Since they have no objective real-world criteria to dispute that choice, they simply “melt down,” as you describe. And this is why they are so anxious to impose, by legislative fiat and social ostracism, their particular viewpoints on the rest of us. Living in world where their personal “woke” viewpoints are just part of a wide spectrum of opinion is psychologically intolerable to them. They can’t bear it. Susan Jarvis Bryant January 27, 2021 Daniel, I too agree with Dr. Salemi in that the ruling elite (I believe this is not just the left, it’s the globalist new order) have their own religion, and that is key. The laws of Western society are biblical and based on just laws. By just, I mean they are in line with the moral law – the law of God rooted in the eternal and natural. God doesn’t change. His standard doesn’t change. It requires an immutable point of truth that even those with the most power must adhere to. Without this fixed point of truth, the changing consensus of elitist opinion becomes the “truth”… the “justice”, and therein lies the problem. The ruling elite are ruling with a “narrative” that isn’t in line with immutable truths. Today we live in a gender fluid world (a lie) whereby people are judged on their skin color and their independent thoughts and we are answerable to the Government not to God. Not only have the Government turned themselves into a deity, their rules and regulations are also fluid. They change with the weather and no one can keep up with them, which, in my opinion, is why those who follow this new “religion” are unable to converse. Their belief system has no principles or factual evidence… it’s all “narrative”, “ideology” or, in other words, hot air. While I may not agree with the teachings of Allah, this religion is also rooted in a fixed belief system, which is why you are likely to have a level-headed discussion. Reply Joseph S. A religion that accepts the reality of God is linked to actual extramental existence — a reality that can be discussed and debated because it’s THERE, just like the Rock of Gibraltar. But the religion of Left-Liberalism is based purely on ideological abstractions and psychological resentments, and above all on the arbitrary “choice” of the believer. The Western world was founded on Christian values and it has always been the most embracing and forgiving area of the globe. Why are all the oppressed heading our way, and that includes those who were enslaved in Africa by their black kin. To skew these values and assign them to the dark dungeons of history is a lie.
