‘On Volkswagen’s Emission Scandal’ by Tony Henderson

October 19, 2015
in Humor, Poetry
A A
2

Volkswagen has admitted to rigging as many as 11 million vehicles with illegal software that cheats on emission tests.

Lies and half-truths? Daily fayre
But for pious folk it’s only fair
If you peddle wares upon our trust
When you’re caught you should be bust.

Someone must have made the call
To tweak the needle just to fall
Below the threshold, no alarm
Thus put our lives in deadly harm.

Was it like King Henry’s piece?
Rid me of this turbulent priest?
Or was it devious local crew?
Who’ll take the rap from cold HQ?

The Boss has gone, if he’s not wise
A fool be he, but no surprise!
Those that are left face their doom
A perfect fart. A crowded room.
