‘The Return of Fine Art’ by Hoffmann Zhu The Society November 30, 2015 Beauty, Culture, High School Submissions, Poetry This poem was inspired by Shen Yun Performing Arts. Bleak and somber is the flavor du jour; Modernism pervades all spheres of art; Artists lacking virtue make it a bore, People wait for a refreshing restart. A booming strike! The gong that evil fears, Pulses race, while excitement fills the air. Melodies of grace with dancing bring tears, Audiences on the edge of their chairs! Of what does Shen Yun’s sublime play bespeak? Five millennia of tales and stories That in myriad ways interests pique, Chinese culture full of hope and glory. At last, the promise of mankind is clear, Rejoice, the renaissance of art is here! Hoffmann Zhu is a high school student at Fei Tian Academy of the Arts, in Upstate New York.
