Sara’s Prayer*
Take me beyond all thought and word,
where only beauty can be heard.
Then silently, before Your throne,
I’ll dance, Dear Lord, for You alone.
Claire*
She dances like a flowing vine
that has the most exquisite line
drawn by the hand of the Divine
on this most grateful heart of mine.
*Sara & Claire are professional ballerinas and our adopted fairy granddaughters.
A Haiku
Reality seems
to dance with the aurora
on the edge of dreams.
Laundry Day—2019
for Jared Pearman & Bruce Dale Wise
I sit and wait here in the sun
as brains are hanging on the line.
A few more minutes, they’ll be done.
The frayed one on the left is mine.
It’s still a little dingy-grey,
but nothing like it used to be.
And once it’s dry, I’m on my way—
no need to press, it’s wrinkle-free.

Delightful poems, Joe – thanks, really enjoyed them.
Joe, the immediate perfection of your thought in these poems is exhilarating!

Joe:
This is poetry at its best – reaching to the heart, giving pleasure, stimulating thought, causing us to wonder at the power of a few well-chosen words and well-crafted phrases, and making us wish we’d written that. Thanks so much.

Super, as always!!
Your poetry is always a pleasure to read, Joe!
Joe, you have shown yourself to be a mighty minimalist. Lovely and well done.
Short, concise, well crafted and beautiful.
Perfect pleasures! Thank you.
Very nice work Joe. They are quick to read, yet leave a lingering impression.
Joe – I must wholly endorse what everybody else has said about these little verses. For their size they pack a punch and move me to profound cogitation. And that doesn’t happen very often. One slight criticism… Nope, I don’t think I have one.
Thank you all very much!
You have an admirable way with words that shines in every poem in this collection. The haiku particularly beautiful.
