Freezing in a Winter Wonderland
to be sung to the melody of “Walking in a Winter Wonderland”
I am cold.
Are you listening?
On my nose,
ice is glistening.
Why must we roam?
I wanna go home.
Freezing in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the feeling
in my hands. Face is peeling.
It is my desire
to be by the fire.
I’m freezing in this winter wonderland.
No, I do not want to build a snowman.
Both my feet are numb up to my knees.
I would rather be beneath an afghan,
safe inside from this sub-zero breeze.
Take me home. I’m not playing.
Can’t you hear what I’m saying?
I see my own breath.
I’m freezing to death
walking in this winter wonderland.

What we need is more send-ups
Like this one. It’s a bend up!
We’re happy tonight
With Irby’s delight,
In (or not) a winter wonderland.
Thanks and Merry Christmas, Mr. Irby
Where’s the fun
In our Christmas,
It’s as gone
As the mist was
Before the snow came
A terrible shame
We can’t laugh together any more!
Keep them coming !
Would it be alright to tuck a copy of these lyrics into the sheet music on our piano? Fun for all!
Down the pub
I am going,
Christmas Eve
wind is blowing.
It’s twenty below,
With a blizzard of snow
Trudging through a winter wonderland.
Merry X-mas Mr Irby and all other Wonderlanders!
I love this very clever parody. Here in England we often sing “House of the Rising Sun” to the tune of, “Oh Little Town of Bethlehem” which works remarkably well.
I agree! (And I love snowman/afghan!)
David, what fun!! My favorite lines are; “I would rather be beneath an afghan,/safe inside from this sub-zero breeze.” – how beautifully cozy! I am originally from the UK, and Christmas in Texas means balmy breezes and not an icicle in sight… your poem brought back chilling memories. I love it!
