By Dan Skorbach

If I could talk to trees and meet with mighty lions,
If I could ride the winds and gain the moon’s advice,
I’d ask how they command the forces of the wild,
And how they see the earthly beings through their eyes.

If I could climb a thousand crowns of Himalayas,
If I could swim the seven seas a distance far,
I’d ask whoever lives in the mysterious layers,
If I could see the magic dust of a shooting star.

But when the trip is over and desires settled,
I’ll leave the worn out boots of travel on their own,
Steeping an Eastern mountain tea in iron kettle,
I’ll contemplate the universe’s myths. Alone.

Dan Skorbach is businessman and poet living in Toronto, Canada.
