"Departure" by A.D. Cook‘Flying Coast to Coast on the Anniversary of 9/11: Courage, In-Flight’ by Alan Salé The Society March 14, 2017 Poetry, Terrorism 1 Comment Cold and Uncertain shaken and stirred; Flying through clouds so quickly they’re blurred. Hold, comfort and buckle me in; Make us trust in safety again. Sitting armed with a passport and strapped with hopes from the past; Remembering the memories which are certain to last. Then optimistic voices, so assuring and true; Projected feelings of calm on behalf of the crew. Upon my mind all the pressures grew thin; As feelings of hope were strengthened within. Recent atrocities we’ll never forget; But today on this flight their match has been met. There are those who’d love to keep us down and afraid; But fly we must for there is progress to be made. Pride and Confidence were the agendas on hand; As the captain informed, we were ready to land. Now all of my fears have fallen to rest; For over this land, we ‘Fly, with the Best’! Copyright © 2002.
