"The Clouds at Sunrise" by Frederic Edwin Church‘Love of Life’ by David Paul Behrens The Society March 26, 2019 Beauty, Poetry 6 Comments How I long for the days gone by, Such memories overtake me. I look back on my life and sigh, May the future not forsake me. All the fond thoughts of yesteryear, Coupled with the thoughts of regret; Love of life is ever so near, It captures my soul like a net. So many things I could have done, But I did not follow through. Maybe I walked, but should have run; Such thoughts hang pale and blue. The sun still shines, up in the sky, The moon is still glowing at night. Life goes on, regardless of why, And the darkness turns into light. All in all, life is still worthwhile, Happiness remains in my sight. Some things I recall, make me smile; My love of this life shines bright. After fifty thousand miles and five years as a hitchhiker, living on the road and streets in towns and cities across America, David Paul Behrens followed with a career as an over the road dispatcher in the trucking industry. He is now retired and living in La Verne, California. His website is davidpaulbehrens.com. March 26, 2019 @ DPB, why would anyone have reason to criticize the fabulous poetry published by SCP? Okay, but seriously, I do try to keep my comments positive, even when they’re “constructive criticisms”. Peggy Reed March 26, 2019 Very lovely! Reply David Paul Behrens March 26, 2019 As are you!
