The Artist’s Statement on Horses:

I have always believed that nature lends itself to man.

The horse has contributed more to civilization than any other animal… Since prehistoric times, the horse has been aiding man in his quests for freedom. They have fought wars, plowed fields, pioneered us, entertained us, and hauled everything imaginable. They are native to every land. They are universal.

When standing next to them, their size can be quite intimidating. Yet, there is a great sense of calm. Maybe the largest sense of calm and peace I have felt. These paintings are very large. I feel they need to be that way to capture the presence of the horse.

In this series, I am exploring the traits and similarities of horse and man. The horse is a metaphor for the experiences of man.
